Barbara Park was born Barbara Tidswell on April 21, 1947 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. She attended Rider College from 1965-1967. In 1969, she received a degree in secondary education from the University of Alabama. She married Richard A. Park in 1969; the couple have two children.

Barbara Park is best known for her Junie B. Jones children’s book series which consists of at least 28 books.  Her first novel Operation: Dump the Chump was published in 1979. She has won many awards for her writing including four Parent’s Choice Awards.

 Barbara Park currently lives in Arizona.
