Joseph Boyden Wins the 2008 Scotiabank Giller Prize

Canadian author Joseph Boyden has been awarded the Scotiabank Giller Prize for his novel Through Black Spruce. In addition to the prestige of winning the award, Boyden also receives $50,000. It is also a proven fact that sales of the winners books usually go through the roof after winning the Giller Prize.

Boyden teaches writing at the University of Louisiana. He has homes in New Orleans and in Northern Ontario.

The winner of the Scotiabank Giller Prize was announced on November 11th in an hour-long televised program on the Bravo television network hosted by Seamus O’Regan.

The winning novel, Through Black Spruce is about a native Canadian model who goes missing in New York City.

    I’ve read the first few chapters… it wasn’t horrible..but really did not engage my interest
